Last two days of the tour, with Charley, Chris, Billy and Rob riding in a fighter plane, then onto Port Campbell. Then the final ride along the Great Ocean Road into Melbourne to finish the ‘Sydney to the Outback’ tour.

Highlight of the ride today was a visit to the Birdwood Auto Museum; which is one of the biggest auto museums in Australia. A walk down memory lane for us more mature riders. Later stopped at Meningie, which triggered memories of a great ride a decade before.
Leaving Wilpena Pound, the next destination is Lyndoch Hill in the Barossa Valley. Along the way, one of the riders takes a tumble and joins the rainbow ankle brigade.

This day was the highlight of the entire tour for me, as it provided the opportunity to ride through 170 kms of typical arid Australian outback. The colours and formations of the landscape out there are just mesmerizing. Photo is Billy taking in the sights at the old Waukaringa ruins.

Day 2 has a visit to the Parkes Radio Telescope, or “The Dish” as it’s affectionately known. Then it’s on to Hillston for the night. Call in to see a fine example of outback art in “Utes in the Paddock”.
The main job of the day is to get out of Sydney and over to Parkes. It’s the first day on the road, so it’s nice gentle ride out over the Blue Mountains.
The pre-ride briefing and dinner was held at the Deus Cafe. Here we get to meet each other, have a few drinks while having an evening meal in a cafe that is incorporated into a custom motorcycle shop. How appropriate.
